A Maryland pastor tells congregation that Trump should be held accountable with Vice President Pence in attendance.
VP Mike Pence and his wife attended a church service in Maryland on Sunday morning at Metropolitan Baptist Church led by Pastor Watson. Watson took the opportunity to address the “dehumanizing” language used by Trump in a meeting on immigration meeting that took place on January 11th.
“I stand today as your Pastor to vehemently denounce and reject any such characterizations of The nations of Africa and of our brothers and sisters in Haiti,” the pastor stated before calling for Trump to be held accountable for his words and his racist sentiments.
It is reported that Pence “visibly red-faced” during the sermon, but the rest of the congregation jumped from their seats in support for the pastor’s words.
The pastor stated that he felt “led by god” to discuss the topic, especially due to the number of African and Haitian members of his congregation. Although, the pastor could not “repeat in church” the “ugly adjective” spoken by the U.S. President in an official oval office meeting, Pastor Watson can be relatively sure that Pence knew exactly which “guttural” statements he was referring to.
